Job description

Are you interested in working on a multi-billion-pound railway project?

Do you have substantial experience in systems integration?

Salary: circa £50,000 to £70,000 (flexible based on level of experience)
Manchester: 3 days per week in client office, remainder from home.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply engineering controls and procedures to all projects so all design and construction contracts include reference to appropriate Railway Group and Network Rail Company standards applicable to their discipline.
  • Apply relevant techniques and procedures of quantified and qualitative risk assessment and HAZOP analysis to all projects.
  • Monitor all projects for compliance with rail standards and rail project control procedures.
  • Monitor whether the design and construction elements meet the requirements of legislation, including construction design management (CDM) regulations.
  • Undertake reviews of design and construction activities. Arrange audits of contractors to monitor whether safety and quality of design, construction testing and commissioning and management systems are adequate.
  • Lead IDC/IDR design integration reviews.
  • Produce PRAMS Plans & Report, and Maintenance Readiness Plans/Reports.
  • Produce and review DRACAS reports.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in systems engineering disciplines, ideally with involvement in construction and design projects across multi discipline areas
  • Understanding of PACE
  • Technical qualifications to at least HNC level or equivalent
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution
  • Knowledge of structuring safety cases in support of projects
  • Knowledge of safety management and quality assurance
  • Understanding of the arrangements required for the independent assessment of works
  • Accident investigation experience

Desirable

  • Chartered status or equivalent in relevant discipline.
  • DPE experience advantageous.
