Key Information Documents

In 2019, an amendment to the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses ("Conduct Regulation") introduced "Key Information Documents". On the 6th of April 2020, it became a requirement for contractors to receive Key Information Documents (KID) from their employment agencies.

What is a Key Information Document?

A Key Information Document (KID) is designed to give you a clear overview of the main details of your assignment, including your pay, benefits, and deductions. It helps you understand exactly what to expect in terms of payment and contract terms.

Carrington West securely sends your Key Information Document (KID) directly to your email via SafeRec.

What You’ll Find in Your Key Information Document:

  • Contract Type: Conformation of payment type – working PAYE, through an umbrella company or CIS through an umbrella company, or as a limited company contractor.

  • Pay Details: Your hourly/weekly rate, an example of take-home pay after deductions, and pay frequency.

  • Deductions: Information on required deductions (tax, National Insurance) and any additional fees (e.g., umbrella company fees).

  • Benefits & Entitlements: e.g., Holiday pay and pension contributions.

  • Employer Contributions: Employer’s National Insurance and, if eligible, pension contributions.
