Job description

A world leading consultancy is looking to bring on a mechanical engineer for their nuclear/defence projects based in Derby . This is a fantastic opportunity for a mechanical engineer to work with some of the best minds in the business on some high profile projects in the secure sector.

  • Job Title - Mechanical Engineer (NUCLEAR)
  • Location - Derby
  • Contract Length - 6 Months
  • Pay Rates - Up To £65 per hour

Day to day deliverables/Experiences:

  • Pro-actively support technical aspects of project delivery, including forecasting, change management, risk management and reporting on project progress
  • Producing and checking of calculations and authoring technical documents
  • Support the development, implementation and sharing of best practice through the engineering community and our formal recoding systems.
  • produce designs and calculations to demonstrate acceptable performance
  • Mechanical experience including calculations, design reports, DFMEAs, FMEAs, tolerance stack ups & drawing experience
  • Experience will be throughout the complete project lifecycle. 
  • Experience of applying a range of engineering principles and skills to deliver successful project outcomes, with specific examples of working on technical challenges, and, direct accountability for quality and technical performance of engineering projects.

Key Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (Chartered Preferred)
  • MUST have nuclear experience
  • Design knowledge in nuclear engineering (design, analysis, technical substantiation).
  • Familiar with working to design codes and industry standards appropriate for a safety critical industry (ASME, Eurocodes, BS EN13001, RCC-M etc)
  • High integrity mechanical handling equipment (Nuclear de-fuelling/fuelling/waste manoeuvring etc.)
  • LIVE clearances
