Job Title: Associate Director - Business Development (Infrastructure/Civil Engineering)
 
Location: Southampton / Remote working from Southampton / Frequent overseas travel

The UK team are currently recruiting for a vital role within their team as an Associate Director of Business Development in the Infrastructure/Civil Engineering sector. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in driving business growth through strategic partnerships, client engagement, and market expansion. You will be responsible for identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities in infrastructure projects, while also nurturing and expanding existing client relationships. This role requires a deep understanding of civil engineering projects, infrastructure development, and a strong network within the industry.
 
 
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
1.Business Development Strategy:
 
·Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy focused on infrastructure and civil engineering projects.
 
·Identify new market trends, emerging technologies, and potential business opportunities to grow the company's footprint.
 
·Collaborate with the leadership team to align business development activities with the company's overall goals.
 
2.Client Relationship Management:
 
·Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, government agencies, and partners in the infrastructure and civil engineering sectors.
 
·Manage client engagement, ensuring satisfaction, repeat business, and long-term partnerships.
 
·Negotiate contracts and agreements that align with the company's objectives and deliver value to clients.
 
3.Market Research and Analysis:
 
·Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to identify and assess potential opportunities in infrastructure and civil engineering projects.
 
·Stay up-to-date on government policies, regulations, and funding programs related to infrastructure development.
 
·Provide insights and recommendations to senior management for market entry strategies, investment priorities, and risk assessment.
 
4.Proposal and Bid Management:
 
·Lead the preparation and submission of winning proposals and bids for large infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements.
 
·Work closely with the technical and project teams to develop competitive pricing, project timelines, and delivery approaches.
 
·Ensure compliance with all regulatory and industry standards in proposals and contracts.
 
5.Networking and Partnerships:
 
·Leverage existing networks and establish new relationships with industry leaders, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders in infrastructure development.
 
·Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and forums to enhance brand visibility and generate new business leads.
 
·Build strategic alliances and partnerships to expand service offerings and capabilities.
 
6.Team Leadership and Collaboration:
 
·Provide leadership and guidance to junior business development team members, ensuring a high-performance culture.
 
·Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, project management, finance, and legal to ensure seamless delivery of projects.
 
·Set clear objectives, KPIs, and performance metrics for the business development team.
 
 
 
Qualifications:
 
Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; a Master's degree (MBA) is a plus.
 
Experience: 8+ years of experience in business development, in the infrastructure or civil engineering sectors.
 
Skills:
 
·Strong knowledge of infrastructure development, civil engineering projects, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
 
·Proven track record in winning large infrastructure projects and managing high-value client accounts.
 
·Excellent networking, negotiation, and communication skills.
 
·Strong leadership and team management abilities.
 
·Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on results and client satisfaction.
 
·Familiarity with financial modelling, contract management, and project financing mechanisms is a plus.
