Vehicle Technician


We are currently assisting our busy client in Leicestershire to find an experienced and skilled Vehicle Technician to join their dedicated Fleet and Passenger Transport Service team.

The main duties of the experienced Vehicle Technician are:

·Inspect, service, and repair a wide range of vehicles, plant, and equipment to ensure they meet council standards.
·Diagnose and troubleshoot faults, carry out maintenance, and prepare vehicles for MOT testing.
·Complete written or computerized job records, detailing the work carried out, parts used, and time taken.
·Provide advice and feedback to drivers and equipment users about defects and necessary repairs.
·Collaborate with colleagues to ensure that all repairs and maintenance are completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
·Maintain a clean, safe workshop environment by adhering to health and safety procedures and minimizing waste.
·Mentor apprentices and help support their development as part of the team.
·Keep up to date with new vehicle maintenance technologies and best practices.


What you will need to succeed:


·MOT Tester Certificate or equivalent qualification.
·Experience in vehicle diagnostics and the ability to repair vehicles, plant, and equipment.
·Knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems, electronic job cards, and maintenance software.
·Strong experience in vehicle fault diagnosis and repair within a large, diverse fleet environment.
·Health and safety training specific to workshop environments.
·Full current driving licence (Class C LGV licence is desirable).
·Excellent communication and customer service skills when interacting with drivers and equipment users.
·A proactive approach to workload management, ensuring that tasks are completed on time and to high standards.


Desirable qualifications:


·Completion of an Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) approved apprenticeship or equivalent.
·Level 3 qualification in vehicle engineering (City & Guilds, BTEC, ONC/D or similar).
·Welding competence certificate (desirable).
·A willingness to undertake further training to advance your skills and qualifications.
