Carrington West is excited to present a fantastic opportunity for a Temporary Accommodation Officer. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in housing services and a passion for helping people in need. Join our team and play a vital part in managing temporary accommodation for homeless individuals and families, ensuring they receive the support they need during a challenging time in their lives.
As a Temporary Accommodation Officer, you will be an integral member of the Housing Options Team, responsible for the efficient management of temporary housing solutions. Your primary duties will include the placement of homeless clients into interim accommodations and the nomination of clients for more permanent temporary housing (S193 stage 2). Your role will be crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the temporary accommodation process and helping individuals transition into more stable living situations.

Key Responsibilities
·Accommodation Management: Locate, inspect, and secure emergency and interim housing options, including bed and breakfasts and nightly lets. Ensure all properties meet safety standards and provide excellent value for the council.
·Client Placement: Conduct thorough risk assessments and arrange the placement of homeless clients into interim accommodations. Manage nominations for supported temporary housing and oversee the referral process for S193 stage 2 accommodations.
·Tenancy Management: Handle ongoing case management for clients in temporary accommodation. This includes rent collection, resolving tenancy issues, and ensuring a timely move to permanent housing.
·Legal and Compliance: Stay updated on relevant housing legislation, ensuring all actions are compliant. Prepare and serve notices, handle court applications, and work closely with legal teams as needed.
·Partnership Collaboration: Work in collaboration with various external partners such as social services, the police, and other support agencies to ensure tenants receive the necessary support.
·Rent Collection: Ensure rent is collected promptly and efficiently, managing accounts to prevent arrears.
·Performance Monitoring: Assist in compiling performance data to help monitor and improve the service provided.

The Ideal Candidate
·Proven experience in public sector housing or a similar environment. Experience with CIVICA and JIGSAW systems is highly desirable.
·Strong understanding of homeless legislation, landlord and tenant law, and benefit regulations. Up-to-date knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 and relevant legal frameworks.
·Excellent negotiation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with care and professionalism.
·A deep commitment to equal opportunities and safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
