Senior Transport Planner- South East (Gatwick area)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Location: Office based near Gatwick with flexible working options available
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
My client is a well-established consultancy with over 35 years of expertise in the planning and development sector. They have successfully secured planning permission for a diverse range of projects, including small-scale factory extensions, large residential schemes, new hospitals, educational facilities, and major regeneration programmes across the UK.
With a growing pipeline of work and a collaborative office environment near Gatwick, the team is now looking to appoint a Senior Transport Planner to play a key role in delivering high-quality transport planning advice on a wide variety of development schemes.
This is an ideal opportunity for a Transport Planner who is seeking a more senior, hands-on role, who enjoys project variety, liaising directly with clients, and who is looking to grow within a well-established and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities:
·Lead the delivery of small to medium transport planning projects from inception through to completion.
·Provide technical input and project management support to Directors on major schemes across the South East.
·Prepare Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and technical appendices for Environmental Statements.
·Attend and contribute to client meetings and public consultations.
·Collaborate with internal teams, local authorities, and external consultants including architects, engineers, and planners.
·Provide mentoring and day-to-day support to Graduate and Junior Transport Planners within the team.
·Undertake junction capacity modelling, traffic forecasting, and access feasibility assessments.
Requirements:
·Approximately 4-5 years' experience in transport planning within either the public or private sector.
·Proven experience preparing technical documents including Transport Assessments, Statements, and Travel Plans.
·Strong knowledge and practical experience using transport modelling software such as TEMPro, TRICS, ARCADY, PICADY, LinSig, and Microsoft Excel.
·Familiarity with AutoCAD and swept path analysis, with a working knowledge of relevant design guidance (DMRB, Manual for Streets, etc.).
·A relevant academic background, ideally with a Master's degree in Transport Planning or related discipline (desirable but not essential).
·Professional membership of a relevant body such as CIHT or CILT (desirable but not essential).
·Strong communication and report writing skills.
·Full UK driving licence.
What's on Offer:
·Opportunity to work on a wide range of projects from day one.
·A genuinely supportive and knowledgeable team environment with regular training and development.
·Clear career progression to Associate and beyond, depending on performance.
·Flexible hybrid working options.
·Competitive salary and benefits package.
