Senior Estimator
Are you an experienced Estimator looking for an exciting new opportunity? We are currently working with a leading client who is looking for a Senior Estimator to join their team on a major project. This is an excellent chance to be part of a dynamic team and lead the estimating function throughout various stages of the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely cost planning, reporting, and overall estimating deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
·Take ownership of the estimating process for assigned projects, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and updates.
·Implement estimating strategies that support cost planning at all stages of the project, ensuring alignment with the prescribed project stage gates.
·Provide expert estimating guidance and leadership to the project team, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of estimates and cost reporting.
·Lead baseline production, maintenance, and variance analysis to support project delivery.
·Ensure compliance with project plans, processes, and procedures at all times.
·Oversee measurement activities, the production of Bills of Quantities, and related documentation according to the relevant sector measurement standards (e.g., MMHW, CESMM, NRM).
·Manage estimating data to identify trends, opportunities, and variances, providing recommendations for cost control and improvement.
·Collaborate with the wider project teams to ensure all estimating deliverables are met within deadlines and in accordance with project objectives.
·Prepare cost estimates and detailed reports, managing cost plans throughout the project lifecycle.
·Conduct benchmarking and source data validation to ensure accurate assessments of value for money.
·Supervise and mentor junior estimators and support teams within the estimating function.
Qualifications & Skills:
·A degree in a relevant field
·Professional membership of an industry-recognized body such as RICS or ACE is preferred.
·At least 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or equivalent, including Maths, English, and Science.
·Significant experience in estimating and construction, with a proven track record in cost planning, Bills of Quantities, and estimate production.
·Proficient in estimating software such as CostX, Candy, or Causeway, as well as measurement software (e.g., RIPAC, Bluebeam). Familiarity with ProjectWise, SharePoint, and AutoCAD is a bonus.
·Strong IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office (Excel is essential).
·Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and team collaboration.
