Job description
One of the UK's largest defence/nuclear consultancies is looking to bring on board a qualified and competent nuclear engineer who has worked in the submarine/defence/nuclear sector who has a strong foundation in mechanical engineering.
- Job Title - Nuclear Engineer
- Location - Derby
- Contract Length - 6 Months
- Pay Rates - £60.00 per hour Umbrella
This role would suit a qualified nuclear engineer who has a strong foundation in mechanical engineering who is coming from a defence/nuclear/submarine background and has worked on large projects in the capacity of a nuclear engineer.
Daily Deliverables/Skills:
- You will be tasked with supporting the UK key nuclear programmes from the defence, decommissioning and high integrity structures for new nuclear establishments
- Well experienced in High integrity mechanical handling equipment (Nuclear de-fuelling/fuelling/waste manoeuvring etc.)
- Support a wide range of civil nuclear new build projects such as the UK SMR and other major consortium projects
- Understanding of working to design codes and industry standards appropriate for a safety critical industry (ASME, Eurocodes, BS EN13001, RCC-M etc)
- Deliver strong design and analytical skills to projects supported
- Have a direct approach to delivering engineering principles and skills for a desired project outcome.
- You will have specific accountability for quality and technical performance of engineering projects
Key Experiences/Qualifications:
- Degree qualified in a qualified engineering discipline (mechanical bias preferred)
- Nuclear sector experience (design/analysis/technical substantiation
- Chartered engineer status or working towards
- Delivery of services and technical projects
- Production and checking of designs and calculations to demonstrate acceptable performances or identify design issues
