Job description
Our client is a leading engineering consultancy based in Reading. Theya re looking for a Graduate Flood Risk Consultant to join their team that specialises in providing expert advice and innovative solutions to manage and mitigate flood risks effectively.
This role is ideal for individuals with some knowledge in the flood risk assessment and drainage sector. You will support the team in developing and implementing effective flood risk and drainage strategies for various development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
·Assist in conducting flood risk assessments for development projects, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
·Support the preparation of drainage strategies, including Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) design and implementation.
·Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyse and present spatial data related to flood risk and water management.
·Contribute to the preparation of Environmental Statement (ES) chapters, ensuring thorough and accurate documentation.
·Understand and apply the principles of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) in flood risk and water management projects.
·Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather data and insights necessary for project completion.
·Conduct fieldwork and site visits to gather data and assess conditions related to flood risk and drainage.
·Monitor and report on the progress of projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
·Provide administrative support to the team, including maintaining project documentation and records.
Qualifications:
·A degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field.
·Knowledge of flood risk assessment, water management, or a related sector.
·Basic understanding of flood risk assessment methodologies and drainage strategies.
·Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for data analysis and presentation.
·Familiarity with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and its application in development projects.
·Strong written and verbal communication skills.
·Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
·Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
·A proactive and eager-to-learn attitude.
·You must be able to work in the UK unrestricted.
