Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Drainage Engineer to come and join a busy client in the West Midlands.
As the experienced Drainage Engineer, you will be responsible for the assessment, design, and implementation of drainage systems to prevent flooding, safeguard public health, and enhance the resilience of our community. Your expertise will contribute to the maintenance and improvement of drainage infrastructure, ensuring it meets the highest standards of performance and sustainability.
The main duties and responsibilities of the experienced Drainage Engineer are:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing drainage systems to identify vulnerabilities, inefficiencies, and areas in need of improvement.
- Develop and design drainage solutions for new developments and retrofitting existing systems to address flood risk, water quality, and environmental impact.
- Ensure all drainage activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and environmental legislation.
- Oversee and coordinate routine maintenance of drainage infrastructure, including cleaning, repairs, and upgrades.
- Engage with the community to provide information on drainage projects, gather local knowledge, and address concerns related to drainage issues.
- Maintain accurate records of drainage assessments, design plans, maintenance activities, and relevant data for future reference and planning.
- Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in drainage engineering to enhance the effectiveness of drainage systems.
The Drainage Engineer will have experience and qualifications in:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Professional engineering certification is preferred.
- Proven experience in drainage engineering, including design, assessment, and maintenance of drainage systems.
- Strong knowledge of drainage engineering principles, hydraulic modeling, and relevant regulations.
- Adaptability to work in a dynamic environment and respond to changing drainage requirements.
