Assistant Quantity Surveyor  
 
Our client is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Birmingham. This role is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to develop their quantity surveying skills and progress toward becoming a fully qualified Quantity Surveyor. Working closely with senior Quantity Surveyors, you will be responsible for supporting a variety of cost consultancy activities across diverse projects.  
 
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will:  
- Conduct measurement and billing of quantities using standard methods such as MMHW, CESMM, or NRM.  
- Prepare detailed preamble notes for bills of quantities, clearly documenting information used and assumptions made.  
- Codify measured works into cost and work breakdown structures.  
- Collect, analyse, and report on cost data, addressing any inconsistencies or errors in source data.  
- Assist in preparing estimates, cost reports, and supporting documentation.  
- Support the production of tender documentation, conduct financial assessments, and prepare tender reports with appropriate documentation.  
- Assist in contract administration and commercial management tasks, including:  
  - Budget monitoring and forecasting  
  - Processing interim payments  
  - Cost auditing  
  - Change management  
  - Progress monitoring and reporting  
- Provide timely commercial management and assurance deliverables for project teams.  
- Collaborate with senior team members on legal and contractual issues.  
- Manage and control project documentation, including maintaining schedules and registers.  
- Attend client meetings, present findings, and provide recommendations for improvement.  
- Pursue relevant studies and training to support career progression (self-study may be required).  
- Complete additional training as instructed by the organisation.  
- Liaise with the Office Health & Safety Coordinator and promote the organisation's wellbeing initiatives.  
- Contribute to the company's Quality Management System (QMS) by understanding the impact of your activities and supporting quality objectives.  
- Adhere to company policies, including ethics, equality, diversity, data protection, and anti-bribery regulations.  
- Actively contribute to enhancing client satisfaction and the organisation's reputation.  
 
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (or equivalent), including English, Maths, and Science.  
- A relevant degree (minimum 2:1) is preferred, along with demonstrable experience in a similar role.
