Job Title: Asbestos Surveyor
Location: Southampton, UK
Rate: £300 per day
Contract Type: Interim, Full-Time

 
About the Role
Southampton City Council is seeking a qualified and dedicated Asbestos Surveyor to join our Property and Asset Management Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations across our property portfolio. You will work across a diverse range of properties, including council housing, schools, and public buildings, helping us maintain a safe environment for all users.
 
Key Responsibilities
·Conducting management, refurbishment, and demolition asbestos surveys in line with HSG264 and relevant health and safety standards.
·Preparing detailed survey reports, including recommendations for remedial actions where necessary.
·Ensuring the asbestos register is kept up to date and accurate.
·Supporting the council's asbestos management plan by providing professional advice to internal and external stakeholders.
·Liaising with contractors and other teams to ensure the safe handling and removal of asbestos materials.
·Conducting re-inspections and ensuring compliance with current legislation and best practice.
About You
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise and excellent communication skills.
 
Essential Requirements:
·BOHS P402 or RSPH Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification in asbestos surveying.
·Demonstrable experience conducting asbestos surveys in a variety of property types.
·A thorough understanding of asbestos legislation, including the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
·Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within Southampton.
·Strong IT skills, including proficiency in producing detailed reports.
Desirable:
·BOHS P405 (Management of Asbestos in Buildings) or additional relevant qualifications.
·Previous experience working in the public sector or for a local authority.
