We’re on the bus! Carrington West Supports Shaping Portsmouth’s Apprenticeship Bus Initiative

Carrington West is proud to have taken part in this year’s Shaping Portsmouth Apprenticeship Bus, an initiative designed to showcase the benefits of apprenticeships to young people across the city. This year, we sent two of our apprentices, Morgan Rees and Issi Ware, to share their experiences and inspire the next generation of professionals.

The Apprenticeship Bus is an exciting programme that connects local businesses with students in local schools, helping them explore career opportunities and learn first-hand about the value of apprenticeships. By visiting schools and engaging with students, the initiative highlights alternative pathways to traditional university routes, promoting practical learning and career development.

Meet Our Apprentices: Morgan & Issi

Our two Carrington West representatives, Morgan Rees and Issi Ware, are fantastic examples of how apprenticeships can shape promising careers:

Issi Ware is a Human Resources Assistant currently studying for her CIPD qualification. Her apprenticeship allows her to gain valuable experience while developing the knowledge and skills required for a successful career in human resources.

Morgan Rees has recently completed his Level 3 Marketing Assistant apprenticeship and is now set to begin a Digital Marketing Degree Apprenticeship in September. Her journey demonstrates the potential for continuous professional development through the apprenticeship route. See more from Morgan in this short video here.

Why Apprenticeships Matter

At Carrington West, we recognise the importance of developing local talent and providing young people with the skills and opportunities they need to succeed. Apprenticeships offer hands-on experience, industry insight, and the chance to earn while learning, benefits that can be particularly appealing for those looking for an alternative to full-time university study, but also for those whose learning style suits being fully immersed and

Our involvement in the Shaping Portsmouth Apprenticeship Bus reflects our commitment to supporting the city’s future workforce. By participating in events like this, we hope to encourage more young people to consider apprenticeships as a valuable and rewarding career path.

Speaking about Carrington West’s involvement, Amanda Ansell, Marketing Director, said:

“Working with Shaping Portsmouth allows us to support vital initiatives that help young people in our city make informed career choices. The Apprenticeship Bus is a brilliant way to connect with students, highlight the benefits of apprenticeships, and showcase the opportunities available within our business. We are passionate about nurturing talent and investing in the next generation of professionals.”

Carrington West has won a number of awards for its leading learning and development programmes, and holds the highly regarded Investors in People Platinum accreditation for its people management practices. HR Manager Emily Christmas adds;

“We have a focus on investing in skills development and to do this we have to foster strong links with local organisations. We believe that apprenticeships for roles such as business support, HR, marketing, and accounts to name a few, not only benefit individuals but also strengthen businesses and the wider economy. These are the practical skills needed in today’s competitive job market.”

We are incredibly proud of Morgan and Issi for their contributions to this year’s Apprenticeship Bus and look forward to continuing our work with Shaping Portsmouth to support young talent in the city.
