Senior Repairs Surveyor
£27.42p/h Umbrella
3 Month Contract (with view for extension)
Somerset Council (Regular travel across the region required)
Are you an experienced Surveyor with a strong background in building pathology and disrepair management within the public sector?
Somerset Council is looking for a skilled individual to join their team and help resolve building issues to ensure the maintenance of high-quality homes for tenants and leaseholders.
What will you do?
·Provide specialist advice on selecting and appointing contractors for remedial works, including damp and mould and structural experts
·Undertake professional building pathology surveys and prepare schedules of work, tender reports, and financial appraisals
·Liaise with residents and keep them informed on surveys, works programmes, and how disruptions will be minimised
·Manage maintenance contracts to ensure works are completed safely and to required specifications
·Represent the Council in disrepair court cases and lead in case settlements
·Ensure consultation requirements are met for tenants and leaseholders, including for party wall matters
·Provide a disrepair service ensuring properties meet the Council's standards
·Attend and present at resident group meetings, supporting service requests and complaints
·Assist in producing policy and procedure documents for disrepair matters
What do you need?
·UK Resident
·Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a construction or related field
·A proven track record in building pathology surveys, particularly in social housing
·Minimum 3 years' experience managing maintenance contracts and disrepair cases in the public sector
·A deep understanding of statutory responsibilities, building regulations, and health and safety
Working Conditions:
·Regular travel across the Somerset area, with the possibility of working in tenants' homes under varying conditions
·Occasional unsocial hours, including emergency response coverage
