Are you committed to improving housing standards and making a difference in the lives of residents? If so, my client is looking to add a Housing Officer or Senior Housing Officer to their Private Sector Housing team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team dedicated to raising housing standards, reducing long-term empty properties, and providing safe and energy-efficient homes.

You need to have access to a car and be able to come to the office / site 3 days a week.

The Role
·Inspect properties, conduct Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) assessments, prepare schedules of work, serve formal notices, and prepare cases for prosecution or civil penalties to ensure housing meets required standards.
·Conduct risk assessments and inspections of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) in partnership with other agencies to ensure they are safe, habitable, and well-managed.
·Provide expert advice on housing conditions and legislation to tenants, landlords, and letting agents, and work with landlords to access financial assistance for property improvements.
·Process grants and loans for property adaptations and improvements, manage contractors, and ensure work is carried out to specification and regulatory standards.
·Collaborate with council services to reduce empty properties, monitor compliance with property standards, and take enforcement actions as needed to return properties to use.

The Ideal Candidate
·Minimum Level 3 Certificate in Housing (or commitment to achieve), with progression opportunities up to a Senior Officer role based on qualifications and experience.
·Relevant experience in housing, enforcement, or property standards (5+ years for Senior Officer level).
·Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Experience with HHSRS and property inspections is a plus.
