Senior Civil Engineer
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to join their team in Hove, and support their Marine and Civil Engineering teams who are currently engaged in newly secured work in the ports, highways, flood defence, energy and heritage sectors.
As the largest Civil, Structural & Marine consultancy in the South East, our client has a varied project portfolio that extends across the residential and commercial, public, industrial, and marine sectors. They can assist and support a Chartership qualification under the approved ICE training Scheme and are based just a few minutes from the centre of Brighton,close to the beach with excellent transport links around the city.

You will be responsible for:
- Carrying out design of Civil Engineering structures
- Managing small to medium design projects from inception through to completion
- Ensuring project related documentation is compliant with Business Management systems, processes, and procedures
- Mentoring junior Engineers and graduates
- Liaising with Directors and clients on project issues
- Leading in development of fee proposals for small to medium works
- Managing projects to keep within timescale, budget constraints and to meet quality expectations
- Preparing monthly reports and fee forecasts
Skills and Experience:
- 7+ years of Engineering experience
- Chartership or near Chartership
- Full clean UK driving license
- Broad engineering knowledge
- Strong attention to detail
- High level of personal efficiency, time management skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands
- Structural design experience and knowledge of relevant design standards
- Ability to write quality reports
- Ability to lead/coordinate delivery of design drawings to clients
- Experience in, or willingness to take on, team leadership and mentoring junior Engineers
- Good all-round technical design expertise using British, European and International standards
Desired:
- Experience of managing and leading inspection work
- Experience administering construction projects
- Managing larger design projects
- Managing resources and budgets
- Specific marine/coastal/maritime/diving experience
- Specific experience in the energy, bridge and historic conservation sectors
- Experience in people management processes such as performance management reviews, absence and capability concerns (with support from HR)
