Job Opportunity: Health & Safety Advisor
Location: Derby
Salary: Up to £50,000 + package
About the Role
A leading contractor is looking to strengthen its SHEQ team with a Regional Health & Safety Advisor for the Severn Trent framework. Based across various project sites within the Severn Trent region, this role involves managing day-to-day health and safety responsibilities and supporting the development of the regional safety strategy.
Reporting directly to the Health & Safety Manager, your responsibilities will include:
Key Responsibilities
·Provide H&S Support: Work closely with the project team to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, implementing best practices and guidance from the HSE.
·Site Audits & Inspections: Conduct systematic audits and site inspections to confirm adherence to health and safety regulations and management systems.
·Problem Resolution: Oversee and support the resolution of health and safety issues, ensuring timely and effective corrective actions.
·Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents and incidents to identify root causes and actionable insights.
·Risk Assessment: Assist the project team in preparing risk assessments and defining appropriate control measures.
·Documentation & Systems Development: Contribute to the creation and maintenance of safety-related documentation, including manuals, procedures, guidance notes, and forms.
·Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with clients, HSE inspectors, and external assessors to ensure compliance and maintain productive relationships.
·Build a Safety-First Culture: Support the project team in fostering a strong health and safety culture across the site.
About You
Essential Requirements:
·Extensive experience in health and safety, ideally within the construction industry.
·Knowledge of current and upcoming HSE directives, health and safety law, and Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM).
·Familiarity with HSE guidance, best practices, and approved codes in construction.
·Experience with ISO 45001 or similar management systems.
·Qualifications: NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent qualification in Occupational Safety and Health.
·Certifications: CSCS card or similar (SHEA Water).
