Salary: £80,000 to £85,000 per year
Location: On-site, 5 days per week in Tilbury.

I am seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join a leading consultancy, seconded to a main contractor, working on a civil engineering project. This role focuses on post-contract management, overseeing reporting on subcontractor packages and client-facing responsibilities.

Essential Requirements:

  • 8–10 years of Quantity Surveying or commercial management experience within civil engineering.
  • Main Contractor Background:
  • Strong track record of managing contracts and upstream client reporting.
  • Familiarity with industry standards like CESMM, New Rules of Measurement (NRM), or SMM desirable.
  • Proven experience managing multiple subcontractors' work packages on infrastructure projects.
  • Strong financial acumen and expertise in contract negotiation and administration.
  • Knowledge of multiple forms of contracts, including bespoke arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing subcontractor performance, ensuring timely delivery within budget and to agreed standards.
  • Reporting upstream to the client, collating data, and providing comprehensive updates on progress and financials.
  • Overseeing multiple subcontract packages ranging in value from £2 million to £20 million, with a total project value of £150–200 million.
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and maintaining robust commercial control across the project.
  • Working closely with Quantity Surveyors to review measurements and reporting outputs.
  • Supporting project delivery through effective contract management and issue resolution.
  • Managing measurement outputs of Quantity Surveyors.
