Highways Design Manager


My client is looking for an experienced Highways Design Manager to join them on an initial 6 month contract, to help support a wide range of major highway projects.


As the successful Highway Design Manager, you will be working within a high-profile regional development framework that includes a variety of significant schemes with a combined value exceeding £1bn and a robust pipeline of future projects. Central to the project's success is having the right people at the right time and fostering an environment that promotes integration and collaboration across individuals and organizations.

The role will initially be based in Bedford and then move to Norwich after the site compound is built.


Responsibilities:
As the Highways Design Manager, you will support the following Technical Integration Management functions:
·Technical Integration Hub: Facilitate and support scheme team integration, coordination, and communication, including external stakeholders and supply partners regarding design and engineering.
·Technical Management Systems and Processes: Support the establishment of technical management processes for the project.
·Design Management: Oversee the management of designs in the EnableMyTeam EMT platform as Review Coordinator. Manage the design process according to company procedures and the Project Design Management Plan to ensure the design of the permanent works meets quality, program, and budget requirements.
·Project Utilities Process: Implement and manage processes for efficient delivery of utilities diversions.
·Specialist Design Subcontractors: Manage the engagement and performance of specialist design subcontractors.
·Compliance Auditing: Audit compliance with CDM regulations and support CDM hazard reviews.
·Meetings and Leadership: Support the lead design manager, attending and chairing meetings as required.
·Change Management: Implement project change management processes.
·Technical Excellence: Ensure efficiency of processes, design, and health and safety.
·Quality Assurance: Manage and facilitate internal and client quality assurance and control requirements.
·Scheme Delivery Hub: Provide centralized design services, including pre-contract and mobilization phase support.
·Performance Management and Analytics: Manage, monitor, and report team performance and project controls.
·Commercial Management: Ensure technical and commercial compliance, including change control.
·Function Integration: Manage and interface with other functions such as sustainability, quality, health and safety, planning, Performance Optimization Centre, and Package Management Office.
·Continuous Improvement: Initiate and facilitate the continuous improvement program within the Delivery Integration Partner.
 
 
The Ideal Candidate
 
·Experience in a similar role
·Demonstrable experience with design management
·Experience working with large infrastructure schemes - Tier 1 (Can be road or rail)
·Civil Engineering degree preferable
·Must be willing to be on site 2 / 3 days a week
·Must have CSCS Card or willing to obtain one
